What is spaying and neutering and why:

Spay is what is done to a female animal to render it sterile. A spayed** pet will:

Not go into heat

Will not spot

Not have babies (Helps control pet over population)

Generally be calmer

What this means to you is that she will generally:

Get into fewer fights (lower incidence of injury and infectious disease),

Be Friendlier,

Not stray from home as often,

Be less likely to get hit by a car.

Medically, she will have a lower incidence of:

Breast cancer

Pyometria (Infection of the uterus).

Neuter is what is done to a male animal to render it sterile. A neutered pet will generally:

Be friendlier,

Not stray as far from home, and

Have a lower tendency to spray or mark territory.

What this means to you is that he will generally:

Get into fewer fights (lower incidence of injury and infectious disease),

Be less aggressive to people and other animals,

Be less likely to get hit by a car, and

Not have a strong urine smell.

The majority of dogs hit by cars are un-neutered males

The majority of dogs that bite are un-neutered males

Altered is the general reference to a Spayed or Neutered animal.

Better Pets is not a full service clinic. The services that we provide over and above spaying and neutering is done at our discretion.

Better Pets reserves the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason.
